"Zettai Maken" is a spirit-based, anime-only technique which Reborn attempted to teach Tsunayoshi Sawada, Kyoko Sasagawa and Haru Miura when they had to deal with dojo-breakers.

Description[]

In order to use Zettai Maken, the user must be able to control all of the vital energies (or "chi") in their body and focusing it into one point.

Next, the user must picture the strongest being they know and the technique will manifest an image of it which strikes fear into the hearts' of the user's enemies, forcing them to surrender.

However, while a very powerful technique, it requires the user to have complete focus as well as truly believe they'll win as even the smallest amount of doubt will cause the technique to fail.

Thus, a successful Zettai Maken guarantees victory and, as Reborn says: "Winning without even fighting is a great strategy".

Synopsis[]

When Reborn first attempted to teach the Zettai Maken to the trio, they went through extremely hard training to increase both their physical condition as well as harden their spirits.

Afterwards, Reborn showed what it was about by demonstrating its effects on Yamamoto, Sasagawa and Gokudera; conjuring a giant mammoth which roared at them and that none of them could do anything about.

When Tsuna first attempted it, he failed because he wasn't 100% sure about himself. Meanwhile, neither Kyoko and Haru really used the technique, but it did help them learn how to control their spirit.

Trivia[]

  • While Zettai Maken literally translates as "Absolute Demon Fist", it is also a pun on the phrase "Definitely Won't Lose" (絶対負けない, zettai makenai?).
  • According to Futa, it is ranked third in martial arts that should be sealed away in the 4000 year history of China.
