Tyr was the previous Sword Emperor and Varia's leader before Xanxus. He was defeated in a two day long battle against Superbi Squalo, making Squalo the second Sword Emperor. Subsequently, Squalo defeated 100 other sword users in a row, securing his title. Every battle was filmed by Lussuria and the set was later given to Takeshi Yamamoto. Tyr had only one hand, and because of this, Squalo cut off his own hand so as to understand Tyr's fighting style, but later replaced it with an artificial one.

Trivia

Tyr is named after the Norse god of justice and war, who lost a hand to the wolf Fenrir.
