Takeshi Yamamoto, commonly referred to as Yamamoto, is one of the main characters in Katekyo Hitman Reborn! where he is centrally featured in the manga and the anime adaption. A member of the baseball team, Yamamoto seeks out Tsunayoshi Sawada and enjoys being around him. Where Hayato Gokudera was also close to Tsuna, the three of them would often be involved with various scenarios.
Takeshi Yamamoto (山本 武, Yamamoto Takeshi) is a tritagonist in Reborn!. He's generally warm and friendly and is rarely seen without a smile on his face. He is rather naive to the point of believing that the mafia is nothing more than a game and that his life isn't in any real danger.

  +
Where Reborn is training Tsuna to become the next head of the Mafia, he is happy to partake in what he thinks are fun-filled games. Capable of excelling in such trials at any rate and enjoying the antics all the while, Yamamoto also shows his dedication to wielding a katana sword, as his dad did. His Shigure Kintoki developed techniques bolster his fighting style. Yamamoto was chosen to be the Tenth Generation Rain Guardian of the Vongola Famiglia.
He was chosen to be the Tenth Rain Guardian of the Vongola Family.

  +
That Yamamoto is very well-liked by others may come down to how remarkably warm and friendly he is. Where Yamamoto is rarely seen without a smile on his face, he is just as naturally at ease in being steadfast in defending others. A friend to the wider team, Yamamoto gets along well with Ryohei Sasagawa, and is liked by Kyoko Sasagawa and Haru Miura, as well as Lambo and I-Pin. Among all characters it is Tsuna that Yamamoto applies this to the most as he helps him navigate his world.
Takeshi is portrayed as a stereotypical Japanese teenager; his appearance is quite ordinary, he's a big fan of baseball, his father owns a sushi resturant, and he wields a katana.

Appearance
Appearance
Takeshi is a fairly-tall teenager with short, spiky black hair and large brown eyes. He bears a strong resemblance to his father. In the future, he has a scar on his chin.
+
He is a fairly-tall teenager, certainly the tallest among his friendship circle which includes the year older Ryohei, as well as Bianchi who is nearly an adult. Yamamoto has an athletic build likely helped by him playing baseball. He has short, spiky black hair and large brown eyes. He bears a resemblance to his father in terms of his face structure.

His most prominent outfit is his Namimori Junior High uniform. He wears a black sweater, with a white formal shirt underneath, and gray pants. Unlike most of his other allies, Takeshi hardly ever wears a tie with his uniform.
+
Yamamoto's most notable outfit is his Namimori Junior High uniform. He wears a black sweater, with a white formal shirt underneath, and gray pants. Unlike most of his other team members, Takeshi hardly ever wears a tie with his uniform. For casual attire, Yamamoto wears long-sleeved shirts, where raised collar jackets of various color are worn. Pants and trainers are also worn. While kendo training, Bōgu-like attire is worn. Similarly, on occasions Yamamoto is seen with sport Hakama like garments around his waist.

Personality
+
Personality
  +
Yamamoto's warm-hearted nature is apparent when engaging with others. Upfront when interacting with new faces and those he knows, Yamamoto's kindly demenour is also displayed when he is speaking with people. His willingness, and ability to make friends with anyone is a key trait, one that few others possess.
Takeshi is the type of character that can make friends with everyone, and if not friendship, then at least respect. Characters like Hibari, have been shown to have interest in Takeshi's battles, and Squalo has also shown to have interest in his development to the point of willingly tutoring him. However, Takeshi can become angry when his friends are hurt or injured. He is also willing to sacrifice things important to him to save his friends from danger, as shown in the Kokuyo Arc. where he sacrificed an arm (right before an important baseball game) to defeat Ken; and when Squalo asked him whether he would choose baseball or the sword, he chose the sword in order to protect those he cared about.

  +
In the event the friendship expressed is not reciprocated by the other, it is shown that Yamamoto can at least garner a true sense of respect from them. This is clear from those like Hibari who have been displayed to take notice of Yamamoto's battles, and Squalo who has also shown an interest in Yamamoto's development.
In school his grades are around the same as Tsuna's because of his focus on baseball. However, it is shown that once he sits down and actually learns the theory, he can do any problem easily. Despite not being smart academically wise, he has shown an inner wisdom and tact belying his age. This was shown when he scolded Gokudera on being a proper right-hand man. He has the tendency to believe that everything is a game, including the Vongola which he believes to be some sort of 'mafia role-playing game'. His future self, however, seems to have finally acknowledged the reality of the situation.

  +

Future Takeshi still shows a bit of his easy-going self but has become more mature and serious. In terms of personality, Takeshi resembles the First Vongola Rain Guardian Ugetsu Asari, something the latter acknowledges.

  +
Kindness easily flows from Yamamoto, but another unrestrained quality that can be unleashed and unable to be stopped is his determination when in possession of a baseball. Notably, when it comes to the sport he loves, Yamamoto is very focused to the point he cannot restrain his strength. Receiving a baseball is enough to induce Yamamoto into a pitcher set on hurling it wherever directed, with enough force to break into targets such as a wall. It is the the extent that in what should have been a fun and calm game of ball throwing with Lambo, he hurled it with all the force as if he were in an actual baseball game.
History
He's the son of Tsuyoshi Yamamoto, who owns a sushi shop named TakeSushi. It is left unknown what happened to his mother who is never seen or mentioned throughout the series. Takeshi grew up in Namimori and at some point, developed an interest in baseball; his love for the sport extended to the fact that he wore a baseball uniform in many of his childhood pictures.

  +
In school, his grades are around the same as Tsuna's but only because of his lack of studying. It is shown that once Yamamoto sits down and actually learns the theory, he can resolve academic problems quite easily. That he naps in class is put down to baseball training in the morning, yet while Yamamoto at first prioritized some areas over academics, he was willing to enter additional classes with Tsuna.
Plot Overview
Daily Life Arc
In the manga, Takeshi asked Tsuna for advice because he was worried about his baseball abilities getting worse, and ended up breaking his arm because he took it. He thought his career in baseball was the only thing he was good at, and planned to end his life. He was just about to jump from the roof top of Namimori Middle School when Tsuna came into the scene. Tsuna convinced him that he had much more potential, and then tried to run away, but Takeshi grabbed him, causing the two of them to fall off the roof. Their lives has been saved because Reborn shot Tsuna with the Dying Will Bullet, and he performed a "Mid-Air Reborn." In the anime, however the two became friends through a volleyball match.

  +
While a peacekeeper should bickering arise, Yamamoto can recognize how to appropriately respond should a situation turn grave. His congeniality is not applied in the event that those he cares about are hurt. Indeed, Yamamoto can become angry should his friends become injured. Swift to act as well, Yamamoto is dependable in covering those in danger.
Kokuyō Arc
During the Kokuyo Gang's attacks, Takeshi was ranked second strongest in Namimori Middle. When Chikusa Kakimoto attacked Gokudera, Tsuna and Takeshi came to his aid, leading to Chikusa's retreat. Later, Takeshi joined the group in the attack on the Kokuyo Gang and was ambushed by Ken, causing the two to end up trapped underground. Disadvantaged due to both his broken bat and Ken's ability to smell him, Takeshi was unwilling to be hurt because this was right before an important baseball match; however, once Tsuna was in danger, he sacrificed his arm to beat Ken. Later when Lanchia attacked the group, Takeshi was able to figure out the secret to his chain ball attack but was overpowered nonetheless and knocked unconscious.

  +
Brave, Yamamoto faces hostile foes head on. Both defensive and offensive measures are resorted to as Yamamoto remains calm in combat situations. The only time alarm is shown by him is when others are compromised, such as when he found that Tsuna had dropped into where he was being attacked by Ken Joshima. Thinking fast, Yamamoto hurled a rock to draw Ken's attention from Tsuna and back to himself. In reminding Ken that he was his opponent, Yamamoto could use words to indirectly defend others and ensure enemies refocused their attention on himself, where he could handle them, or at least prevent who he cared about from being targeted.
Varia Arc
A month later, Takeshi, along with Gokudera and Tsuna, were defeated by the Varia henchman Squalo, who was chasing the Vongola messenger Basil. Later, Takeshi was chosen as the Vongola Rain Guardian and was given a half Vongola Ring. He then asked for sword training from his father in preparation for the Varia's arrival. His father scorned him for treating it like a game but still taught him the eight forms of the deadly Shigure Soen Style. Later in the week, Ryohei, Takeshi, and Gokudera defended Lambo from the Levi Lightning Squad. In the Rain Ring Battle Takeshi was set to fight Squalo again. Before the fight, Takeshi was warned by Dino that Squalo may have already defeated the Shigure Soen Style, though Takeshi remained determined to use it. Squalo did indeed know the style and used it against Takeshi. In the end, however, Takeshi won by creating his own technique in the middle of the battle. A shark was then let loose as part of the match, and, although Takeshi tried to save him, Squalo was pulled into the water. During the Sky Ring Battle, Takeshi was cured of the poison by Hibari. Takeshi devised a cunning plan to rescue Chrome but it backfired when they were caught in Mammon's illusions and were ultimately saved by Ryohei. Later the Vongola Guardians forced the remaining Varia to surrender and Takeshi was relieved to hear that Squalo had been saved by Dino.

  +
He is also willing to sacrifice what is important to him to spare his friends from trouble. Even though Yamamoto had an important baseball game coming up where it was better for him to be in peak condition, he was prepared to sacrifice an arm to draw in Ken for him to defeat. Additionally, when there was a choice between baseball or sword training, Yamamoto was fine with selecting the latter to work towards assisting those he valued. This is done without a thought, Yamamoto is clear that his friends are more important to him than matters such as hobbies however long he has been committed to them.
Future Arc
In the Future, Takeshi led Tsuna and Gokudera to the Vongola Base where they met with Reborn who revealed that Takeshi's dad was killed by the Millefiore. Later while searching for the other Guardian's Takeshi, Tsuna and Gokudera found adult I-Pin, Lambo and Haru Miura and Kyoko Sasagawa being attacked by Millefiore members, Nosaru and Tazaru, however before he could fight them Takeshi was swapped with his past self. After having the future situation explained, Takeshi (along with Tsuna and Gokudera) was taught how to use Box Weapon's by Lal Mirch. Takeshi later went to follow up a lead at Namimori Shrine with Gokudera. They then encountered Gamma who Gokudera initially took on alone refusing to cooperate with Takeshi and was easily overpowered. However even when they worked together, Gamma's experience far outmatched them both. The two were then saved by the adult Hibari. After he recovered, Takeshi began training with Reborn who also gave Takeshi a DVD made by Squalo, titled 'The Road to becoming the Swords Emperor' which included 100 battles that Squalo won. After developing new techniques from the video Takeshi was successfully able to slice Reborn's hat. Reborn then told Takeshi about the secret of the Arcobaleno, but asked him not to tell anyone else until after they defeated the Millefiore.

  +
In his trainings and battles, Yamamoto gradually developed a pride as a swordsman. Once he set his sight on the way of the sword, Yamamoto become engrossed in his training, such as when he watched the DVD series sent by Future Squalo that shows all of his matches. When facing an opponent who uses a sword, Yamamoto volunteers himself as the opponent. In such matches such as the confrontation with Genkishi, he even got excited at the prospect of duelling him. His determination exceeded that of his seriousness when practicing baseball.

Takeshi joined the others for the invasion of the Melone Base. Takeshi, along with Lal (who had been knocked unconscious during a fight), were separated from the others. Takeshi then encountered Genkishi who he recognized from Squalo's video. Despite making him draw his sword, Takeshi was overpowered by Genkishi's Illusions. After he was knocked out he was once again saved by Hibari. Later Takeshi along with the other Guardians was given a Vongola Box.

  +
For his at ease temperament, Yamamoto has shown an inner wisdom and tact belying his age. This was shown when he reprimanded Gokudera on being a proper right-hand man. Yamamoto has the tendency to believe that everything is a game, including the Vongola which he believes to be some sort of 'mafia role-playing game'. Treating it similar to a baseball game perhaps, even when these games seem to become tense Yamamoto is ready to try and overcome what is at hand. Even in serious situations he is not daunted at the prospect of harm to himself. Treating it as a game does not seem to majorly affect how capable Yamamoto is at excelling.
Arcobaleno Trials Arc
When returning to the past for the Arcobaleno Trials, Takeshi was chosen, along with Tsuna and Ryohei, to take part in Mammon's Test of Adaptability. Under the belief that Kyoko was being held hostage, the trio were forced to solve a series of riddles as well as fight a number of Box Weapons. Takeshi was able to see through most of the illusions thanks to his experience fighting Genkishi. After discovering that Kyoko was safe, they swiftly defeated Mammon and passed his trial. Later Takeshi and the other Guardians were assembled for Reborn's Trial of Leadership and were easily beaten by him. Shortly after, the Guardians joined forces with the other Arcobaleno, to defeat Verde and his army.

  +
Future Yamamoto still shows his easy-going self yet shows a more mature and serious side appropriate given the dire situation he and others were in at that point. Regardless, he is the same as Yamamoto is ever ready to act when a situation calls for it. His leadership abilities had also developed in guiding and updating others. In terms of personality, Yamamoto resembles the First Vongola Rain Guardian Ugetsu Asari, something the latter acknowledges.
Choice Arc
When Squalo arrived at the base, he began training Takeshi and while in the woods, Takeshi decided to follow the path of the sword devotedly while in the future. Takeshi was included in the Choice battle during which he encountered Saru, who quickly revealed himself to be Genkishi, who Takeshi was able to defeat using his new Vongola Box. While lying injured Genkishi was killed by Kikyo. Takeshi then went to attack the Millefiore target Daisy and defeated him at the same time as Kikyo defeated Irie. However because of Daisy's undying power, the Vongola lost.

Inheritance Succession Arc
  +
In both the force of his pitches, and being able to hit home-runs in baseball, Yamamoto is athletically capable. It is also mentioned as well that Yamamoto is the best athlete in the entire Vongola Famiglia. His fast reflexes and athletically conditioned-body give him a natural advantage and he is shown to be able to dodge cannon fire, wayward fireworks, and even attacks from Hibari.

After being sent back to the past for the Inheritance Succession Trials, Colonnello became Takeshi's tutor. During his test, Takeshi assumed it was a fight and began to attack Asari. During the fight, Takeshi noticed an opening in one of Asari's attacks and used it to strike him but Colonnello steps in to try to prevent Takeshi from attacking.<br />

Asari then declared that Takeshi had failed his test, but agreed to give him a second chance, though he refused to give a reason for his decision. Back at the shrine the next day, Takeshi fought Asari again and used the same opening as before. However, he decided in the end not to attack, to which Asari declared that he had passed the test. Asari explained that he set up the attack to see if Takeshi would attack a defenseless man. Later, when the girls were captured by Daemon Spade, Takeshi attempted a rescue with the other Guardians. He was separated with the others and fought the doppelganger created by Spade. The illusion was then broken by Hibari's rampage.

  +
For an area of having no training, Yamamoto shows himself ready to enter a sword conflict and remain standing for a time. Whether a natural talent, that swinging a sword is similar to striking a small target with a baseball bat that he is talented at, dedication to training, or a combination thereof, Yamamoto shows himself to be a very skilled fighter.
Future Final Battle Arc
Squalo remained at the Vongola Base to fight Zakuro but was caught in an explosion. Later, Takeshi went back to rescue him with Bianchi, Spanner and Giannini. During the final battle against the Real Six Funeral Wreaths, Takeshi arrived in time to defend Ryohei and Gokudera from Ghost. The Vongola eventually defeated Byakuran and after saying goodbye to Squalo, Takeshi and the others returned to the past.

  +
During the Kokuyo Arc, Yamamoto is ranked in second place for the strongest students at Namimori Middle School by Futa. While behind Hibari at that time, where Yamamoto had no combat training where Hibari had plenty, Futa's rank list indicated that Yamamoto is even stronger than Gokudera, and much more than Ryohei. Despite his easy-going personality more so in contrast to more hostile members on the list, Yamamoto has been noted as having hidden talent as a hitman in the context of being exceptionally capable.
Inheritance Ceremony Arc
At baseball practice, Takeshi became friendly with Kaoru Mizuno, one of the Simon Middle School transfer students. After the Simon revealed themselves as allies, Takeshi and Kaoru were assigned to protect Tsuna. When he discovered that Kaoru became nervous when people watched him play baseball, Takeshi made everyone watching wear vegetable costumes, so that Kaoru wouldn't feel self-conscious. Kaoru then impressed Takeshi by throwing the ball so fast that it seemed to have disappeared.

  +
During his brief fight against an injured Chikusa Kakimoto, he is shown to be fast enough to dodge his opponent's yo-yos and cut the strings simultaneously. Chikusa chose to retreat and let Ken fight Yamamoto later, rather than fight him. During his battle against Ken Joshima, he was overwhelmed by his opponent's various Animal Channels and found his means of fighting back was hindered because of the dark environment as well as having his sword broken. With no other options, Yamamoto allows Ken to bite his arm and uses the opportunity to defeat his opponent with a strike to the head from his broken sword handle. When he faces Lancia, he is rather easily beaten by the possessed man with two attacks from his Steel Serpent Ball. Nevertheless, Yamamoto managed to gather insights such as how Lancia's weapon worked. That he was able to endure a steel ball is a testament of Yamamoto's endurance.
A day before the ceremony, in the changing room, Takeshi jokingly suggested that the Simon were trying to get rid of the Vongola after accidently seeing a paper with Vongola crest crossed. Kaoru responded by violently attacking Takeshi and leaving him in a critical state. However, Takeshi was able to write the word "Sin" using his own blood before falling unconscious, alerting the Vongola of the Simon's plans. Ryohei then found him and, after failing to heal him with Kangaryuu, took him to the hospital for operations. The doctor revealed that he would live, but the probability of him walking again was extremely low. In later chapters, after Lambo managed to defeat Ooyama Rauji, Takeshi is shown in the hospital still wired to machines. Byakuran is then seen standing before him, wings spread from his back.

  +
A quick learner, Yamamoto remembers all 8 forms of the Shigure Soen Ryu despite only being shown them once. Doing this quite early, it also afforded Yamamoto the time to be able to practice further to hone the techniques. Capable of adapting and fast, Yamamoto additionally manages to develop a new form of the style, the 9th form, in a tense situation.

He later reappears with back to full health to save Kaoru from being killed by Daemon Spade. When Kaoru asked why Takeshi saved him after he tried to kill him, Takeshi replies that he would always help Kaoru if he were in real trouble, because that's what friends are for.

Daemon, quite confused, asked why he was here, knowing that Takeshi should be in a critical condition. Takeshi replied that an "acquaintance" of his helped him recover. Tsuna, looking worried, stated that he doesn't have his Vongola Gear. Upon hearing this, Takeshi revealed under his coat his Rain

  +
At the beginning of the Varia Arc, Yamamoto was noted that he lacked the knowledge of a sword fighting style. However, once Yamamoto received proper sword training, he was able to overpower the more experienced Squalo. His full potential was still able to develop further, and in focusing on swordsmanship Yamamoto becomes a full-fledged swordsman.
Necklace Version X. He called out Jirou and Kojirou to merge to Cambio Forma, resulting in the "Two-sword style Vongola Gear".

At the beginning of the battle, Daemon launched a surprise attack behind Takeshi. The attack was blocked by Kaoru, who said that he knew Takeshi could dodge it on his own, but wanted to pay his debt. After that, Kaoru was taken by the Vindice as he already lost his pride, and the Fifth "Key" was later revealed, but not before asking Takeshi to keep becoming his friend. Enraged at Daemon, Takeshi decided to fight him one on one, saying that Tsuna should take a break. Takeshi managed to pinpoint Daemon's location and strike him with his new technique, Udachi: Kirisame, and injured Daemon in the process. However, Chrome interfered and refused to move when Takeshi asked her to until Daemon ordered her to step down. Before they left, Takeshi handed Chrome the Ore of Mist Version X and said that they will always be waiting for her. Takeshi soon fell to his knees (since he was not fully recovered) and decided to take a rest for a night as he told Tsuna and the others that Byakuran was the one who healed him.

  +
From training and where it stands to reason that ranks can be climbed, Yamamoto is easily one of the tenth generation Vongola's strongest Guardians even counting those like Mukuro Rokudo. In fact, Reborn clearly sees his potential and often enthuses to Tsuna that Yamamoto is a natural born hitman. For that, Reborn invested in training Yamamoto himself and appeared to regard him as their best chance at dealing with the Millefiore Famiglia.
At the day of the Simon Rings' awakening, Takeshi watches the fight between Tsuna and Enma and after that goes with the group to encounter Mukuro after he was supposed to have defeated Daemon. When Daemon reappears by possessing Mukuro's body. He gets trapped in an illusionary world like the others thanks to Daemon but he manages to save Chrome from being trapped. After Tsuna and Enma's final showdown with Daemon, he is released and receives the final 'key' like the others. A week later, he is seen playing baseball with Kaoru at Namimori Middle's baseball field.

  +
His strength is greater still when using box weapons. Yamamoto is unique in that he is the only one to have a single Box Weapon that is made up of two different animals, which are each an avian and canine being respectively. Accordingly, Yamamoto can rely on multi-attacks, to a greater extent with the swords his Cane di Pioggia can carry.

Chrome's Transfer
Takeshi appears with Tsuna at Chrome's welcoming party because Chrome was kicked out of Kokuyo Land. In the miming competition, he isn't seen performing, but laughs at the people's performances.

  +
Equipment
Later, Takeshi appears the day before Tsuna's father Iemitsu arrives in Namimori, commenting to Tsuna that he was excited to be fighting for Reborn to allow him to revert to his adult form, though he couldn't imagine what it was like.

* Rain-attribute Vongola Box Weapon: Yamamoto has a unique Box Weapon as it is in fact two different Animals. One is Ziro the [[Cane di Pioggia ver. Koziro has the power to make Rain infused with the Tranquility Attribute and shower it down on opponents.
Later, on the first day of the Representative Battle of the Rainbow, Takeshi happily heads to school with Tsuna. However, when the battle suddenly starts, he, Gokudera, and Ryohei group up and try to find Tsuna. When an explosion occurs because of Tsuna being punched through the ceiling by Iemitsu (though they don't know the cause), they run towards the explosion; however, they are barred by Hibari and Fon, the former appearing to be Fon's representative, who states that he would bite all three of them to death. Ryohei charges towards Hibari but his battle watch is quickly broken. Takeshi and Gokudera attack Hibari together and use a smoke bomb to get past him. They soon re-group at Namimori Diner where they find out Dino made a deal with Iemitsu stating they would become allies and in return he wouldn't destroy Tsuna's Boss watch.

It is said the First Rain Guardian used this sword style. In its Version X form Yamamoto gains only two swords, along with Armor around his wrists.
After discussing the situation during the first day battle with Team Yuni, their watches announced the start of the second battle and they were ambushed by Team Verde. During this time, Team Collonnelo broke the alliance with Team Reborn due to Tsuna's refusal to leave Team Yuni. As the result, Byakuran's boss watch was destroyed while protecting Tsuna, and Tsuna immediately went to where Iemitsu is. With Byakuran defeated and Tsuna left the scene, Mukuro and Flan decides to retreat. Takeshi and Gokudera tried to stop him, but Mukuro was able to escape. Takeshi then suggested for them to go to Tsuna and Iemitsu by riding a nearby bicycle that was boosted by Gokudera's dynamites to increase the speed. Unfortunately, the time limit already over by the time they arrived.

Small Gia and Big Pino able to find out their hiding place and destroy the illusions along with Takeshi's Shigure Kintoki and Gokudera's Sistema C.A.I. They were about to be killed until Enma saved them with his technique. Tsuna, Enma, and Basill arrives and fought Small Gia and Big Pino. Basil's battler watch was destroyed, enraging Tsuna who attacks, but then his vision was blinded by Small Gia's flash, causing him to hit the flash and momentarily blinded his vision. Before Small Gia could proceed, Takeshi restrains him from behind while Gokudera distracts Big Pino as each of them is holding dynamites. With Enma, Chrome, and Flan's help, they are able to destroy the two Vindice's battler watches without harming both Takeshi and Gokudera.

  +
* As seen in Haru Haru's Interview Dangerous, Yamamoto loves milk and even once told Gokudera to drink some because he thinks Gokudera's constant frustration was due to lack of calcium (oblivious that his easy-going attitude was actually the cause of it).

Takeshi thinks Tsuna is amazing and treats him as a very close friend after the latter saved his life. Although he is rather naive towards what is really happening during the series, Takeshi is very devoted and loyal to Tsuna. He fights for him, protecting him above all else. His protective sense to Tsuna was first hinted in the manga when Takeshi declared that he will be Tsuna's Right Hand Man while Gokudera will just be the ear lobe.

In the Future Arc, Takeshi showed great distress at not being able to beat Daisy in the Choice battle, thinking that he had somehow disappointed Tsuna and the Guardians. He was also upset about losing to Ugetsu Asari during the Inheritance Succession Arc, and silently apologized for making Tsuna worry. However, thanks to Tsuna, he managed to let go of this distress during the second trial of the Guardian Inheritance Test.

Takeshi thinks of Gokudera as a friend and although Gokudera does not seem to admit this fact, he also thinks of Takeshi as a trusted ally. However, there seems to be somewhat of a one-sided rivalry going on. Gokudera believes Takeshi is trying to become Tsuna's right hand man, when in reality, he is simply being his clueless self and enjoying their competitions. They therefore push each other to do their best and become stronger because of each other. Gokudera also enjoys calling Takeshi a "baseball freak" whenever he is acting laid-back in a tough situation, when he references something to baseball, or when he does not know something.

In the future, the present Takeshi scolds Gokudera for his coldness towards him. He says that he has no right to be Tsuna's right hand man right now, as the right hand man's job is to gather and unite the Guardians, not turn away from them. He goes back to being happy once Gokudera chooses to accept him.

Reborn is the one who "found" Takeshi and consequently made him join the Vongola. He has very high expectations of Takeshi's talents and eventually becomes his tutor in the Future Arc. Reborn says that Takeshi is a natural-born hitman. Takeshi, on the other hand, thinks that Reborn is an infant who likes to play with very advanced toys such as guns and bombs. After training with Reborn, he has acknowledged him as being powerful and is interested in hearing his secrets, which Reborn revealed to him after their training. Reborn seems to like sitting on Takeshi's shoulder.

Superbi Squalo
Squalo is the first opponent Takeshi faced who uses a sword. After a humiliating defeat at Squalo's hands Takeshi trained extremely hard to learn the Shigure Souen Style in hopes of beating Squalo. Squalo can be seen as the oil that strengthened Takeshi's desire to become stronger and his rival at swordsmanship. After defeating Squalo in the Rain battle Squalo says that Takeshi has what it takes to become a great Swordsman, acknowledging him. He, like Reborn, also has high hopes for Takeshi. In the Future Arc, Squalo sends Reborn and Takeshi a video of the 101 battles he won in order to become the Sword Emperor, helping Takeshi and refiring his determination. In the Future Arc, it is also mentioned that Vongola has two Swords masters; one of which is Takeshi, the other Squalo. Squalo seems to get irritated at Takeshi as he chooses baseball over swordsmanship. Squalo is one of the few who notice that Takeshi is not at the inheritance ceremony and that he is an illusion, signifying that Squalo has gotten to know Takeshi behavior wise along with his capabilities as a swordsman. Squalo calls Takeshi a naive brat and yells at him quite frequently, but Takeshi doesn't seem to mind and they otherwise get along well.

Unlike others who were afraid of him because of his appearance, Takeshi treats Kaoru nicely and already regard him as his friend, being the only one who helps him when it comes to baseball and to the point that he saved him from Daemon Spade's killing blow and forgave Kaoru even though he had nearly killed him. Kaoru also regards Takeshi as his friend, feeling guilty for attacking him to the verge of death and due to this, finally losing his pride because he could not bear to fight Takeshi because he saved him and said that he wished to continue being friends with him before he was imprisoned by Vindice. After Daemon was defeated, both reconciled and were seen playing baseball together again.

Character Outline[]

Appearance[]

He is a fairly-tall teenager, certainly the tallest among his friendship circle which includes the year older Ryohei, as well as Bianchi who is nearly an adult. Yamamoto has an athletic build likely helped by him playing baseball. He has short, spiky black hair and large brown eyes. He bears a resemblance to his father in terms of his face structure.

Personality[]

Yamamoto's warm-hearted nature is apparent when engaging with others. Upfront when interacting with new faces and those he knows, Yamamoto's kindly demenour is also displayed when he is speaking with people. His willingness, and ability to make friends with anyone is a key trait, one that few others possess.

Yamamoto Lion

Going all-out in baseball

Weapons and Abilities[]

In both the force of his pitches, and being able to hit home-runs in baseball, Yamamoto is athletically capable. It is also mentioned as well that Yamamoto is the best athlete in the entire Vongola Famiglia. His fast reflexes and athletically conditioned-body give him a natural advantage and he is shown to be able to dodge cannon fire, wayward fireworks, and even attacks from Hibari.
