Flan is Mukuro's disciple in the Future. Due to Flan's antagonistic personality, even though he calls him "Master," Flan often mocks Mukuro by calling him "pineapple head" much to Mukuro's annoyance, which makes him stab Flan in the head several times with his trident. Mukuro also admitted to Byakuran that Flan was more like a poor-skilled brat than a comrade and also called him a useless disciple to Xanxus. In the manga, Mukuro refers to him as "little one."

In Inheritance Succession Arc, Mukuro shows no interest in Daemon nor his inheritance and only appeared because he had pushed him too far and to save Chrome and the girls. And instead, in Inheritance Ceremony Arc he shows a bitter resentment at Daemon who had used Chrome just in order to lure him out so he could fight and take over his body, showing clearly his anger and hatred by refered to him as a rotten mafia and the epitome of everything he hate, claiming that he will take him along with him into hell. Daemon doesn't seem to return this hatred and is interested in Mukuro and found his body as a perfect vessel that he has been looking for and seem to acknowledge his power as skillful illusionist.

Character Outline

Mukuro Rokudo (六道 骸, Rokudo Mukuro) is one of the main characters of Reborn! and is the first season's primary villain. Later on, he becomes Tsuna's Guardian of Mist.
Portrayed as the series' first primary antagonist, Mukuro Rokudo is introduced as a 15-year-old Mafia criminal wearing a Kokuyo school uniform with a so-called "pineapple" hairstyle. He is the leader of the Kokuyo Gang, which consists of heinous criminals who have recently escaped from Prison. However, later on in the series, he takes on a more supportive role for the series' main characters, becoming somewhat of an ally rather than an enemy, though he prefers to not consider himself as one of their allies and avoids any involvement with the Mafia.

History

Mukuro Distroying the Estraneo Family

Mukuro (10 years old) killed all of his captors

As revealed in a flashback sequence, Mukuro Rokudo was born into the Estraneo Famiglia and was one of the children experimented on by the Estraneos. One day, Mukuro killed his captors with his Abilities and offered Chikusa Kakimoto and Ken Joshima, two children who were also experimented on, a chance to join him in his new quest to destroy the "insignificant" world.

Later on, Mukuro was adopted into a Mafia Family in Northern Italy. However, unbeknownst to the Family, Mukuro was periodically controlling one of its Members, Lancia, and using him to kill others, eventually making him kill his own Family and several mafia families in Northern Italy. Since then, Mukuro had Lancia under his complete control, using him as a "Fake Mukuro" who is eventually mistakenly identified as the real Mukuro in a picture, whereas the real Mukuro is said to have never been photographed.
Anything else Mukuro did in recent years remains a mystery, but it is mentioned that he, along with Ken and Chikusa, had been locked up in a high security Italian prison, which is reserved for the most dangerous of Mafia criminals who have even committed crimes against the Mafia itself. Two weeks prior to the Kokuyo Gang's appearance in the story, they staged a jailbreak on the eve of Mukuro's execution, resulting in the death of several wardens and prisoners, and later the escape of other dangerous criminals.

Appearance

Mukuro is a fairly-tall teenager with blue hair in a so-called pineapple style. His left eye is blue and his right eye is red (normally shown with the number 'six' in the middle). In the Manga he also wears earrings while in the Anime he doesn't.

During most of his appearances Mukuro wears the Kokuyo school uniform with the buttons of the jacket undone, revealing a shirt with a misty design (Shown to be a short-sleeved shirt in an ending). When he fought Mammon, he wore a different outfit. Like his very first appearance Mukuro wore gloves and had a dark green jacket, trousers and a darker-colored shirt.

Ten years later, Mukuro's hair is longer at the back, similar to Ricardo. From his first appearance to the end of Choice, he wore a black jacket, white T-shirt, a black necktie and black trousers with boots, including a white belt. After being freed from the Vendicare Prison, he wore a shorter jacket, a shirt, white trousers and tall boots.

When he was called out by Daemon during the battle with the Shimon Family, Mukuro appeared wearing his former T-shirt, a jacket similar to the one he wore during the Mist ring battle, a pair of (possibly white) trousers and long black boots.

It is noted that Mukuro has yet to appear within the series not wearing a jacket or having a different hairstyle, unlike Chrome.

Personality

Despite often being shown with a playful smile, Mukuro is seemingly apathetic to the suffering of others. Appearing as the series' first antagonist, Mukuro is not averse to disposing of those who get in his way and is not easily intimidated, usually speaking to others in a very direct and arrogant manner. He cares little for others, and simply considers people to be "toys" or "tools" he can sacrifice in order to get what he wants.

However, despite claiming that people are just toys, he seems to tolerate both Ken and Chikusa, and even protects them when need be, though he does not directly do so in front of them.

Mukuro in Prison

Future Mukuro in Prison

He later sacrifices himself in order for Ken and Chikusa to safely escape from the Vendicare, and he also agrees to be the Guardian of the Mist in exchange for the two's safety.

Mukuro, along with Ken and Chikusa, is implied to have a strong dislike for the entire Mafia underground, possibly due in part to the experimentations they suffered as a child. However, not only does he have the desire to destroy the entire Mafia, he also wants to invoke world suffering by starting a world war, claiming to want to cleanse the world with darkness.
Even after becoming the Mist Guardian, Mukuro still claims to no longer be part of the Mafia, having been exiled from it, and continues to view the organization with great contempt, though he now prefers to avoid any involvement with them. Mukuro is also quite knowledgeable of the Mafia's dark secrets, possibly even the secret behind the Arcobaleno,[1] a group of the Mafia's most powerful infant hitmen.

Plot Overview

Kokuyo Arc

Tsuna vs Mukuro

Tsuna vs. Mukuro

After creating the Kokuyo Gang, Mukuro kidnapped Fuuta and used his rankings to draw out Vongola 10th. He also defeated Kyouya Hibari by taking advantage of his weakness to cherry blossoms. Later, he revealed his plan to take over Tsuna's body in order to get revenge on the Mafia. After being defeated, he and his gang were arrested by the Vendicare. One month after the battle when Tsuna and the others cheered Yamamoto at his baseball game, Tsuna sensed something but was distracted by Lambo who started crying. Reborn immediately noticed a little boy, Mi, and said that he seems lonely and will take him on anytime which the boy replied by one day they will meet again. The boy then turned around and had the number "six" on his right eye. He was revealed to be possessed by Mukuro.

Varia Arc

Mukuro vs Viper

Mukuro vs. Viper

A month before the Varia's arrival, Mukuro, Ken, and Chikusa attempted a jail break. Mukuro used himself as bait so the others could get away and as a result, was thrown into a lower level jail cell. He later discovered Chrome Dokuro, and became the Vongola Guardian of Mist in exchange for his comrades' safety. During the Mist Ring Battle, Chrome was defeated by Mammon. Mukuro then appeared briefly and defeated Mammon himself. It is revealed by Chrome, that Mukuro knew Xanxus's plans, and asked Lancia to help them after the battle.

Future Arc

Mukuro Wounded

Mukuro heavily injured by Byakuran

In the Future, Glo Xinia claimed to have defeated Mukuro during a previous battle. However, Mukuro had in fact possesed Glo's Owl Box Weapon and used this to help Chrome defeat Glo Xinia at Kokuyo Land. He spied on the Millefiore under the disguise of Leonardo Lippi, sending infomation of the Millefiore to the Vongola but ends up being injured in a fight against Byakuran who claimed to have always known his true identity. Mukuro planned to leave his body after gathering infomation about Byakuran's power but was stopped by him as he blocked out Mukuro's power to transfer his consciousness out of Leonardo's body. After this, Mukuro's fate is unknown, however, he managed to leave a message about Shoichi Irie's round device to Chrome and Tsuna in their dreams.

Arcobaleno Trials Arc

Mukuro vs

Tsuna stop Hibari and Mukuro's fight

When Tsuna and the others came back to the past to complete the Arcobaleno Trials at Kokuyo Land, Mukuro communicated with Chrome and asked where she had been for past few days. He commented that she looked like she'd been through a tremendous ordeal and let her keep the secret for herself. He said that he will always by her side no matter what happens. After Colonnello's Trial finished, Mammon, disguised as Tsuna, appeared in front of Chrome and yelled at her to bring out Mukuro. Mukuro appeared out of anger, asking who was bullying "his Chrome". 'Tsuna' baited Mukuro to come outside, where the real Tsuna came to give Chrome rice balls, and where Mukuro will arrive at the same time as Hibari. Hibari and Mukuro then immediately battled each other rather than attack Tsuna (much to Skull's dismay).

After Tsuna defeated Skull's octopus, he was able to stop Hibari and Mukuro's battle. He commented that he was amused by the battle and requests Tsuna to not drag Chrome around outside his reach, and if that was not possible, to then protect her. After Tsuna promised this, he disappears because he had already reached his limit.

He later appeared again while communicating with Chrome when she returned to Kokuyo Land after Verde's trial and asked whether she was involved again with Vongola and Arcobaleno activities. And, again, he let her keep it the secret for herself since all that mattered was that she was safe.

Choice Arc

Future Mukoro's Reappearence

Future Mukuro

After Tsuna decided to protect Yuni, the Vongola attempted to get back to Namimori. As Byakuran approached them Mukuro appeared as a real illusion from Chrome's trident. He uses his illusions to slow Byakuran down. Mukuro's intervention successfully allowed the Vongola to escape. However, to Byakuran's surprise he states that he helped them only to keep Yuni out of his hands (hinting that he knew something). The illusion was later destroyed.

Inheritance Succession Arc

Mukuro Protecting The Girls

Mukuro blocking Tsuna's weak X-Burner

While Tsuna was trapped inside Daemon Spade's illusionary mist, he fired a weak X-Burner at Daemon, but it turned out that he was in fact firing it at Chrome, Haru, I-Pin and Kyoko. In an instant, Mukuro appeared in Chrome's stead and protected the girls with his trident, stating that he couldn't let other people run wild in his territory and then got angry at Daemon for torturing Chrome the past few days, saying he noticed this because he had been observing Daemon for a while, but did not want to interfere until Daemon had pushed him too far. When Daemon asked what he intended to do, Mukuro replied that he could deal with him directly, but will let Tsuna handle it. Tsuna attacked Daemon, who would have gotten absorbed into the illusionary mist again if Mukuro hadn't gotten rid of it, allowing Tsuna to fire his X-Burner directly at him. After reappearing, Daemon said that he had a few questions for Mukuro, who he called the Mist Guardian, much to Mukuro's dislike. He told Daemon that he did not like being called by that name and did not earn that title by choice. After being asked why he protected the girls, Mukuro stated that he did it because he didn't want Chrome to be upset, and that personally, he doesn't care about them. Mukuro told him how he wanted to take over the Mafia and destroy it, which shocked Daemon Spade and caused him to laugh. Daemon then tells him that he had potential and has deemed him worthy of his inheritance. Mukuro, who does not want to have anything to do with it, switches back to Chrome but not before telling Tsuna that he entrusts Chrome to him.

Future Final Battle Arc

Mukuro Flan

Mukuro and Flan arrive at the Battlefield

Mukuro was rescued from the Vendicare Prison by Ken, Chikusa, M.M. and Flan. During an all-out battle between the Wreaths, the Varia, the Vongola Guardians, Mukuro, and his student, Flan, intervened by swapping the Vongola members with illusions in an attempt to learn more about the Wreaths' fighting styles and abilities.
This plan worked, as they were able to witness some of the Wreaths' special attacks without suffering any casualties. He later received the Mist Vongola Box Weapon from Chrome, which he used to analyze Ghost. After Tsuna defeated Byakuran, he was seen with Chikusa and Ken calling out to Chrome since it was almost time to go back to the past and told her that it was good seeing her again, calling her Nagi. Later, his past counterpart was seen receiving the memories from that Future's battles from Yuni. When Chrome went back to Kokuyo Land, he switched places with her and commented that this would be interesting while he looked at his Vongola Ring.

Inheritance Ceremony Arc

File:Mukuro appears.jpg

Mukuro appears

When Daemon's mind control is undone, he reveals to Chrome that he wishes to fight Mukuro with the fully awakened Shimon Ring of the Desert by using her as bait. Daemon removes the barrier of Shimon Island and removes Chrome's illusionary organs to taunt Mukuro. He shouts for Mukuro to come out, saying that Chrome will die unless he saves her. Mukuro immediately appears, replacing Chrome and is furious at Daemon. He laughs angrily and comments that Daemon had lost site of the times of his death, calling him a putrid rotten mafia, clearly angered by the First Generation Mist Guardian. Daemon comments that with one glance, he could tell that Mukuro is an amazing technique user, to which Mukuro replies that he could see the same and calls Daemon Spade the avatar of everything he detests. This amuses Daemon who continues to saying that while he understand why Mukuro take offense, but emotions like anger could weaken him and instead offered him to have some tea to calm him down. Mukuro quickly declines and stated that he will take him into the realm of the dead. After witnessing the sixth key, Mukuro and Daemon clash with their weapons and Daemon comments that Mukuro is better than he had ever thought, then decides to not hold back, to which Mukuro replies that 'he wouldn't have it any other way'. When Daemon reveals his cards and explains that his illusions is stronger than him, which Mukuro responds by reveals the ore of the Mist Vongola Gear and upgrades it to Mist Earring Version X and commands Mukurou to Cambio Forma, changing his Trident to a Rod. Mukuro traps Daemon within his illusions and manages to make Daemon loses his perception and defeats him. As Daemon turns back into Julie and become unconscious, Mukuro bids him farewell.

Relationships

Chrome Dokuro

Chrome Dokuro3

Chrome Dokuro

Mukuro first comes upon Chrome Dokuro, who was known as Nagi at the time, while he was taking a stroll through one of his illusions. When Nagi was thinking to herself about how her life would finally end due to an accident which caused her to lose her right eye and most of her organs, Mukuro's voice told her that it will not end. To his surprise, she was able to hear his voice and reply back, which is when he takes her into his Illusion. He tells her that they are alike, and he proceeds to activate his Sixth Realm. By possessing her body, he also created illusionary organs for her, allowing her to live. Though his essence resides in her body, he chooses to not take full control of her, usually only mentally communicating with her and appearing only when she is in dire situations, using her as a sort of communication tool. When Mukuro takes over her body, he uses a huge amount of energy in order to become a reality. However, this intertwines their existence; for as long as Chrome is alive, Mukuro can exist, and as long as Mukuro exists, Chrome can continue living.
Mukuro acts kind and considerate towards Chrome and has shown concern for her many times. This may be because he finds her an asset, as he uses her as a connection to the world outside Vendicare. Mukuro also refers to her somewhat as his property, constantly calling her, "My Chrome". At the battle with Glo Xinia, he shudders when Glo Xinia commented of how precious Chrome is to him, and also, after that event, he told Tsuna to not drag her out of his reach and even requested him to protect her; although he rarely ever asks Tsuna for anything and despite his hatred for mafia. He is also shown to be willing to help anyone that Chrome cares for even though he personally don't care about them because he doesn't want to see Chrome upset. When others bully or harass Chrome, he acts concerned, and says things almost playfully like "I'll punish you for scaring Chrome". He also assured her that he will always be by her side no matter what happens, although sometimes it seems Chrome has to rely on other people or even herself. He always shows Chrome a gentle smile (which he never shows to anyone) everytime he communicates with her or when she is around, while around others, he is quite cruel and inconsiderate. Even in the future, Mukuro shown a deep level of concern for Chrome's well-being. However, it is still is unknown if it is an honest behaviour or just an act, as she is still someone he requires to exist. Also, Future Mukuro referred to her as an "ignorant little girl" (in the anime, he referred to her as an "innocent girl") during the final battle with Byakuran. M.M. had also mentioned that Mukuro is just using her, as Ken and Chikusa seem to acknowledge also. But Mukuro said that the only people who can understand the meaning of his action and words were Chrome and Tsuna; also when Daemon removed Chrome's organs and called out to Mukuro saying that Chrome will die if he didn't appear, Mukuro quickly replaced Chrome and clearly shows his anger and hatred towards Daemon (Even though he refered to Chrome as his playing piece and probably due to his hatred of the Mafia). Chrome is aware of what M.M. warned her about, but she continues to be loyal to him as she already stated that he is an important person to her.

Ken Joshima & Chikusa Kakimoto

Ken & Chikusa

Ken and Chikusa.

They were subordinates of Mukuro since childhood. Ken and Chikusa are very loyal to Mukuro, who had saved them when they were younger, and they willingly help him even if it costs them their lives. Mukuro sometimes feels irritated when they start fighting; however he also seems to tolerate both of them as far as sacrificing himself to be captured by Vendicare and making a deal with Iemitsu to become Tsuna's Guardian of Mist in exchange for their safety. In the small novel in Reborn! fanbook Vongola 77, he even admitted to himself that they are friends.

Lancia

Both are not in good terms. Five years prior the Kokuyo Arc, Lancia's boss found 10 year old Mukuro and adopted him into Family with Lancia who took care of him and at that time, he regarded Mukuro as his true family, treating him with compassion. However, this turned out to be part of Mukuro's plan who later possessed Lancia and forced him to kill his own Family and several other Mafia Families in northern Italy. This made Lancia develop great resentment towards Mukuro and stated that he has no intention to forgive him. However, ironically, due being possessed by him for five years, Lancia could feel that Mukuro is better than anybody else. Mukuro on the other hand, thought of Lancia as his tool and is apathetic towards his suffering, continously using him to carry out crimes. However, when he knew of Xanxus plan, he indirectly asked for Lancia's help to assist Tsuna and the others.

Tsunayoshi Sawada

Due to his hatred towards the Mafia, he planned to possess Tsuna's body because if he possessed a Vongola, he could destroy the Mafia. Even though he hates the Mafia, Mukuro seems to find him interesting due to his attitude toward others, though he also found Tsuna naive. Tsuna initially shows hatred towards Mukuro for what he had done, but as time passed, he had lost his hatred and now seems to have sympathy for him after knowing his past and his reason to become Tsuna's Guardian of Mist. In the Future, Mukuro had indirectly helped the Vongola by sabotaging one of the Millefiore's computers to transmit infomation about them to the Vongola. Tsuna has often worried that something bad happened to him, though he also, at the same time, is quite afraid of him, mostly whenever Mukuro stated that Tsuna was his target. Mukuro himself seems to trust him when he asked Tsuna to protect his comrades, though he thinks that he has started to lose his mind asking favors from the Mafia.

Kyoya Hibari

Mukuro has a rivalry with Hibari, even in the Future, since Mukuro had defeated him during the Kokuyo Arc. This event left great humiliation for Hibari and made him agree to become the Vongola Cloud Guardian after Reborn promised him that he can fight Mukuro again to make sure to pay him back for his defeat. Mukuro seems to be interested in Hibari's strength, as seen when he fights him the second time because Hibari could still move even though Mukuro had broken several of his bones. He continues to show a particular interest in him when he asks his subordinates Ken, Chikusa, and Chrome to watch Hibari's fight to be the official Cloud Guardian against the Gola Mosca in the Varia Arc. This interest also continues into the Future Arc where Mukuro sends a possessed owl to spy on Hibari, an event that was photographed.

Flan

Flan is Mukuro's disciple in the Future. Due to Flan's antagonistic personality, even though he calls him "Master," Flan often mocks Mukuro by calling him "pineapple head" much to Mukuro's annoyance, which makes him stab Flan in the head several times with his trident. Mukuro also admitted to Byakuran that Flan was more like a poor-skilled brat than a comrade and also called him a useless disciple to Xanxus. In the manga, Mukuro refers to him as "little one."

Daemon Spade

Deamon Spade

Daemon Spade.

Abilities and Weapons

6th Path

Sixth Realm Realm of Heaven

Known as someone who has driven both the Mafia and police into the most dangerous and desperate of situations, Mukuro is a formidable and deadly opponent.
Though Mukuro's main Weapon is a Trident, which he always carries with him, he is first and foremost a master of illusions; he can even overpower an Arcobaleno in a battle of its use, albeit Mukuro is also able to use combative skills. Being a skillful user of Illusions, he is not easily deceived by Illusions that are cast by others, possessing a highly perceptive mind and also able to dispel other illusions cast by illusionists, even one as powerful as Daemon Spade's.

Techniques

  • Six Paths of Reincarnation: Claiming that his body has gone through all six paths to Hades possibly due to the experiments he underwent as a child carved into his memories. Mukuro is granted six powerful skills. When using these skills, a Japanese numeral corresponding to the realm he has entered appears on his right eye.

Equipment

  • Possession Bullet: When shot with this bullet, Mukuro is able to possess and control the body of anyone that he has cut with his Trident. He can possess several bodies simultaneously, and is still able to access the Six Realms, granting him the ability to use a different skill for each body.
  • Trident: During the Kokuyo Arc, Mukuro uses his Trident to create a "pact" between whomever he wished to use the his Second Realm on when he was under the influence of the Possession Shot. When the weapon was broken, it was replaced with a regular one. However, Glo Xinia remembers a moment when Mukuro stabbed his Rain Owl in the wing, giving him the Ability to possess it, meaning he has that Trident somehow.
Mukuro's Cambio Forma

Mukuro using Daemon Spade's Devil Lens

  • Mist Owl: Mukuro has been hiding out in this Box Weapon, presumably spying on Glo Xinia whilst waiting for a chance to defeat him.
  • Mukuro (Vongola Mist Owl): This is Mukuro's Vongola Box Weapon after receiving it from Chrome during the final battle in the Future arc.
Mukuro Rings

Mukuro's Three Rings

  • Cambio Forma: Daemon Spade's Devil Lens: The Vongola Mist Owl transforms into a set of three Lens. These Lens enable Mukuro to scan a target and see its identity and weakness. It was also said that the First Mist Guardian had a similar Weapon that could curse anyone he glared at.
  • Vongola Mist Ring: Won during the Mist Ring Battle. As part of the Tri-ni-set it is classified as S-rank. Mukuro shares the Ring with Chrome, with Chrome usually wearing it when he is in jail.
  • Hell Rings: Mukuro has two Hell Rings. One is a Vine Covered Orb Shaped Ring. The other one is the Evil Eye Hell Ring.
  • Malocchio Hell Ring: He can use the Eye Shaped Ring to generate a blast of Mist Flames in the form of eyes and tentacles.
  • Earring of the Mist Version X : Mukuro received this earring by upgrading the Mist Ore Vongola Gear. In Cambio Forma, Mukuro merges directly with Mukuro, changing his Trident into a Kakkhara that enable him to use all of his Six Paths of Reincarnations at once.

Appearances in other media

Besides the manga and anime series, Mukuro has appeared in other Reborn! works. In addition to appearing in all of the series' video games,[2] Mukuro appears in the first light novel, Hidden Bullet: Mukuro's Illusions, which shows the events of how Mukuro took over Kokuyo Land and a small novel in the Reborn! fanbook, Vongola 77. It tells about how one month after the battle at Kokuyo Land, Mukuro planned to possess Tsuna by possessing a little boy as his connection with the outside world but failed because of the many disturbances from Tsuna's friends. Also in the Reborn! fanbook Vongola 77, it stated that Mukuro, who appeared in Ken and Chikusa's dreams, asked them to go to Japan and find the other him, referring to Chrome. According to the fanbook, Vongola 77, the one thing that he likes about pineapple is its meaning, "Invincible," and his favorite colors are black and purple. His favorite snack is chocolate, and he doesn't like spicy meals. In the Reborn! artbook Colore, Mukuro's jacket uniform is in the closet in his room and opening and wearing it is forbidden. But, Ken secretly wore it, which Mukuro already knows. In a recent escape the room game entitled Escape from the Reception Room, he appears in the Fourth Ending. He had also appeared in two Drama CDs, first at Drama CD: Chrome Appears!, he appeared briefly as side character, when Ken and Chikusa came to Tsuna's house to picked up Chrome who was changing her cloth since Tsuna accidently made her uniform wet. When Ken called her "pinapple head", Mukuro immediately switched place with Chrome, saying that Ken has bullied Chrome and as usual, he will be punished, using his first realm at Ken. In Drama CD: Seeing you in Nightmare, Mukuro and Tsuna's dream were somehow connected and Mukuro decided to play with his dream by making a dream where he possessed Gokudera and made him flirting with girls and then possessed Bianchi and made Gokudera fainted by seeing her face. When he left Bianchi's body and told Tsuna to guess where he is, Tsuna told him to stop and he did, revealed to Tsuna that it was all just a dream and explained his mind somehow strongly connected to Tsuna in some way. When Mukuro teasingly asked Tsuna does he enjoyed his dream, Tsuna retorted and shouted at him to leave his dream and he did so.

Reception

In the second official Shonen Jump poll of the Reborn! series, which was divided into heroes and villains, Mukuro ranked as the number one most popular villain. In the third poll of the series, Mukuro ranked as the third most popular male character, losing to Tsunayoshi Sawada and Kyoya Hibari, who took second and first place, respectively. In the fourth and fifth popularity poll, Mukuro ranked fourth both times. In the fourth poll, he got 7,280 votes, and, in the most recent, 13,561.[3]

On November 7, 2007, a character CD entitled "Sakura Addiction," featuring Mukuro and Hibari, was released, and became the most successful Reborn! character CD, debuting in ninth place in the Oricon charts.[4] The single reached its peak at seventh place,[5][6] but it remained in the chart's Top 40 until mid-January of 2008.[7] It contains duets and individual songs sung by both voice actors, Toshinobu Iida and Takashi Kondō. There are two available covers; both show one character as the main feature, with the other shown in the background with his back turned.[8][9] The song "Sakura Addiction," which was a duet sung by both voice actors, was used as the fifth ending for the series.

For the second annual Seiyū Awards, Toshinobu Iida and Takashi Kondō each received a nomination for "Best Musical Performance" for their music theme "Sakura Addiction." Toshinobu also received a "Best Rookie Actor" nomination for his portrayal as Mukuro Rokudo.
