Lancia was a member of the Kokuyo Junior High Gang but only because he was under Mukuro's control. Before that, Lancia was a former member of an unknown Mafia Famiglia in the Katekyo Hitman Reborn! series. Known as the strongest man in Northern Italy, he is a powerful fighter and is famous for wielding a gigantic spiked metal ball as his main weapon.

Character Outline[]

Appearance[]

He is physicially quite tall and well built. Lancia has spiked out, slick black hair and dark circles under his eyes. There are two dark lines which may be a tattoo on the right side of his face. Two similar markings are both on the right side of his body, though in the shape of an X. One X marking is on the right of his chest, the other above his waist.

For clothing Lancia is seen wearing a thin ragged looking jacket. Dark in coloration, the collar appears frayed, and the sleeves reach to his elbows. Pitch black pants are worn, where a black colored belt around his waist features a rectangular-like silver belt buckle. Although the same style of pants are kept in another setting, Lancia opts to wear a dark green long-sleeved top which bears a raised collar. He has rarely been seen without his gloves on, where Lancia owns a fingerless pair complete with a set of three spikes for a knuckle guard.

In mafia settings Lancia was seen wearing a formal suit with a black tie over a white shirt. For variation a darker shirt, yet with a similar black tie is worn on another occasion. Appearing more at ease in a suit, Lancia remains wearing his fingerless gloves.

Personality[]

Kind-hearted, Lancia cares for his Family who took him in. This is done practically where Lancia dedicates himself as a bodyguard for the said Family to repay their kindness. Happy in a group, Lancia was seen smiling. With a new member joining the mafia family, Lancia was welcoming to Mukuro.

He behaves differently when possessed, where his behaviour is heavily influenced by Mukuro. Upon learning that he had killed his Family while under Mukuro's control of which he had no notion of as the executions were carried out, Lancia was driven by grief and regret to the point of being suicidal, Mukuro's control was the only thing that stopped him from killing himself.

While under Mukuro's complete control, Lancia hardly speaks or shows any emotion, he is in effect a puppet carrying out Mukuro's order. If it is an indication of his battling method or not, Lancia attacked first without readily explaining the powers behind his weapon. In spite of this, Lancia's kindness suppressed deep inside him was still sensed by Tsuna, which helped Lancia to be free of Mukuro's possession. Once free, Lancia returned to his old amicable self.

His past experiences of matching the kindness from his mafia family returned. Such experiences at the time also resulted in Lancia having a soft spot for children. This returned in full force when Lancia was powerless to prevent Lambo, I-Pin, and Futa from clambering all over him when they wanted to play.

Appearances in other media[]

Along with Basil, he appeared in the third volume of Secret Bullet: Millefiore Panic. It features Lancia on his way returning to Italy with Basil to make amends for the people of the Famiglias he had killed while under Mukuro's control. While on the aircraft however, the malfunction of the plane they are onboard must be dealt with before the plane can be controlled to prevent it from crash landing.

Abilities and Weapons[]

An exceptionally powerful fighter, Lancia is skilled in both hand-to-hand combat and the use of a large flail, which he can lift with little effort. According to Mammon, he is the strongest man in Northern Italy. When Lancia first appeared, he was able to overcome Yamamoto with two strikes from his Steel Serpent Ball. Maintaining the offensive against additional foes, Lancia would have more than likely defeated Bianchi had Tsuna not stopped his attack with his Dying Will.

Despite how Tsuna in Dying Will Mode put up a strong fight against him, even reflecting the Steel Serpent Ball right back at Lancia, the latter showed no signs of damage and proceeded to overpower Tsuna in close-quarters combat to nearly kill him. However, because of his own inner goodness, Lancia hesitated and always closed his eyes whenever he attacked his foes. This trait did not go unnoticed by Tsuna who took advantage of to win.

Note exactly battle-weary from a sustained fight or outright out after losing, even after being severely injured, Lancia still had enough strength for him to take a blow from Chikusa's poison needles. From the collective attacks, Lancia still managed to survive.

Returning in the Varia Arc, he singlehandedly defeated all fifty of the Varia's elite squad, who were stated to be second only to the main Varia members. His power implied to have become even greater from the already formidable strength he had, how much stronger Lancia had gotten shocked Ken. According to Reborn, now that Lancia fought of his own free will and was not under the control of Mukuro, he could fight without hesitation and thus became a terrifying force of nature.

Equipment[]

Lancia with Steel Serpent Ball

Armed with his Steel Serpent Ball

  • Steel Serpent Ball: A flail-like weapon consisting of a large metal ball attached to a length of chain with a ring at the end for Lancia to hold. Besides its great weight, what makes the Steel Serpent Ball so dangerous are the numerous snake-like engravings across its surface; whenever Lancia swings it around, the Steel Serpent Ball proceeds to track and redirect air currents. This creates a vortex which sucks in anything nearby and making it all but impossible for the opponent to dodge Lancia's attacks.

Techniques[]

  • Senja Reppa: Lancia centers the ball in front of himself while facing his opponent before hitting it forward with a palm strike.
  • Boja Reppa: A more powerful form of Senja Reppa, Lancia throws the ball into the air before shoving it forward with both palms.
  • Hija Reppa: The aerial version of Violent Snake Fierce Domination and the carvings from the air into a snake form.

Trivia[]

  • Lancia means "lance" in Italian. It could be based on Lancia, an Italian automobile manufacturer.
  • Lancia is ranked as having the second most terrifying face in the world.
  • Despite how Lancia was apparently said to have been taken away by the Vindice, him appearing in the Varia arc indicates that he was released. This could be because Lancia was possessed by Mukuro when he committed those crimes, and thus was not held accountable for it.
  • In a 2016 ranking, 2,818 pollsters voted on the most "Ikemen Jump character with slanted eyes." Lancia placed 27th out of 28.[3]
