Character outline

Kyoya Hibari is the leader of the Discipline Committee of Prefects, who all are delinquents loyal to Hibari. Like his subordinates, he too is a violent delinquent who uses his status to harass other students. However, he prefers to be alone and cares little for his subordinates. Hibari is very proud of his school, and is apparently the only person who likes their school's anthem, even using it as his ring tone. In the Kokuyo Arc, he adopted one of the Kokuyo assassin Birds' bird . The bird (subsequently nicknamed "Hibird" due to its connection to Hibari) becomes attached to Hibari. Reborn piqued Hibari's curiosity early on in the series, and Hibari considers him a worthy opponent, having a strong urge to fight him. His catchphrase is "I'll bite you to death" (kamikorosu), which he often says before a fight. He also has a weakness to sakura/cherry blossoms, due to Dr. Shamal transferring an incurable disease to him earlier in the manga.

Plot Overview

Kokuyo Arc

Hibari went to fight the Kokuyo gang but was defeated after Mukuro took advantage of his "sakura-kura". Hibari was later released from captivity by Gokudera and received a cure for sakura-kura. He then fought Mukuro again but fell unconscious due to his wounds.

Future Arc

In the future, Hibari saved Hayato and Takeshi and defeated Gamma. After their reunion, he agreed to train Tsuna.

Hibari had previously been searching for information concerning box weapons by starting "The Foundation". Hibari later defended the hideout against the Millefiore raid. After this he infiltrated the Melone base and fought Genkishi. As Genkishi was about to land a finishig blow, Hibari was replaced by his younger self. Hibari was able to separate the group from Genkishi when his hedgehog box weapon went into shock and expanded at great speed.

Later it was revealed that Irie Shoichi, future Tsuna, and Future Hibari planned together secretly to fight against the Millefore Family and that was the reason he knew about the raid.

After the choice battle, his Vongola box prevented the Six Funeral Wreaths from running after the Vongola. Later with Dino he faced off against Daisy. Daisy then opened his Hell hole and beat Dino. However Hibari was able to defeat Daisy with his Vongola box and confiscated his ring.

At the fight of Ryohei and Kikyo, he was seen to not interfere until Kikyo said to come on out, it was seen that blood spilled and alaude handcuffs broke into pieces.

Abilities & Weapons

Hibari is a fierce and well trained fighter who has an almost insatiable bloodlust for a worthy opponent. As his main weapon, he uses a pair of tonfa. Hibari's tonfa have also been shown to have hidden compartments containing other weapons and is said to be the strongest Vongola Guardian.

In the future, Hibari has become adept at using rings. His flame has become so intense that even without the Cloud Vongola ring, he is capable of great feats of strength. However, he shatters normal rings when he uses them. The younger Hibari is also capable of emitting a massive Dying Will flame with the Vongola Ring, engulfing even his entire body. This was said to emerge when Hibari was feeling angry with others for disrupting him. It is revealed that Dino taught him how to emit the flames. Hibari has been shown to have more knowledge than most concerning the boxes and uses them at a high proficiency.

  • Cloud Hedgehog - When used, a hedgehog is shot towards the target. Due to the Cloud's ability, propagation, the hedgehog can become bigger when it takes in Dying Will Flames.
  • Needle Sphere Form - His hedgehog forms a huge airtight sphere that encloses his target. The target is then suffocated.
  • Needle Sphere Form, Reversed - He creates a big airtight space where only people are allowed inside. Use of Box Weapons are restricted, leaving Hibari and his opponent to a direct fight.
  • Vongola Cloud Hedgehog - Hibari's Vongola Box Weapon. Unlike the first, this hedgehog has a large sphere on it's back with less, but larger, spikes protruding from it. It can also absorb flames to create copies of itself to overwhelm the enemy.
  • Cambio Forma: Alaude Handcuffs - he Vongola Cloud Hedgehog transforms into a pair of handcuffs, that can be multiplied due to the Cloud propagation attribute. Hibari has shown the ability to increase their size in order to completely envelope an enemy and crush them by shrinking the cuffs. It is said the first Vongola Cloud Guardian used hand cuffs often being in a secret intelligence division.
