The Cradle Affair was a coup d'état by Xanxus and his Varia to overthrow Vongola Nono at the Italy Vongola Base eight years before the Varia Arc. Though the Varia managed to almost completely infiltrate the base, they were stopped when the Ninth froze Xanxus with the Zero Point Breakthrough: First Edition. Through this fight, Xanxus got the signature scars on his face.
