Chrome on account of her background and nature interacts with few other characters in the series. Even when she is close to one person, and one alone in Mukuro Rokudo, more often than not Chrome would be the one being spoken to. In not readily initiating contact with others, it makes it harder for her when Chrome is not the most talkative type when someone does strike up conversation. Most of her connections were instigated by others, although she is able to join others where Chrome's willingness to help them puts her in good stead with kinder individuals.

Due to Mukuro's association with them, Chrome heads to where Ken Joshima and Chikusa Kakimoto are to await their team leader's return. This is an example of Chrome joining with others who are not the best support for her, and winding up in a derelict location hardly suitable for living in. Her temperament is somewhat of a cushion against unsupportive relationships with those around her, where Chrome's commitment to awaiting Mukuro takes priority and is what she focuses on should there be negative presences in her life. It was the same for when she came into contact with M.M.

It is different when Chrome arrives to aid Tsunayoshi Sawada in his campaign to win the Vongola Rings. While comfortable around him, Chrome would remain distant to his friends Hayato Gokudera and Takeshi Yamamoto. Along with them, Chrome would share that she was a Vongola Famiglia guardian with Lambo, then Ryohei Sasagawa, and Kyoya Hibari too. It is with Kyoko Sasagawa, and Haru Miura also I-Pin as well where Chrome would open up to others. Where they were non-battlers, that may or not may have factored into Chrome feeling more comfortable around them to take part in activities together.

Mukuro Rokudo[]

Chrome & Mukuro in 88

Chrome & Mukuro

Chrome certainly has a special connection with the person who saved her life, and where they can communicate in their own world. She cares deeply for him since he gave her a chance to live. Additionally, Chrome found Mukuro was the first person who claimed that he needed her and accepted her, something that nobody, not even her own parents, ever did. Her name was given to her by Mukuro.[1]

Very respectful of him but not out of servility, Chrome always addresses him as "Mukuro-sama." He was the first person she willingly opened up to, and still is the one Chrome places her utmost trust in. Even when she is faced with the warning that Mukuro is just using her, Chrome could not bring herself to hate Mukuro and remains loyal to him for everything he has done and given for her. Chrome is willing to do anything for his sake and safety, regardless of her fate's outcome, even when on the verge of death. These feelings eventually grow into love and a wish to always protect him.

Mukuro, for his part, is exceptionally kind towards her, although whether it is honest behavior or just an act is soon brought into question. At the end of the Future Arc, M.M warned her that Mukuro was just using her to get out of Vindice Prison. Future Mukuro referred to Chrome as an "ignorant little girl" who is easy to be fooled. He found great potential within Chrome as a warrior and illusionist, so Mukuro based on this the view could be formed that he most likely simply thought of her as a useful pawn. However, Mukuro never forced Chrome to be with him, instead wishing for her to be able to stand up on her own even without him, which brought confusion about how he truly feels for her.

Despite his mysterious intentions, Chrome continues to love and have faith in Mukuro. Her feelings towards him are what supports her goal to become stronger for the sake of his and those he held dear. Sharing body with Mukuro for so long also helped Chrome to understand the idiosyncrasies of his illusion better than Fran does, allowing her to form stronger combination technique with Mukuro. What Mukuro feels for Chrome remains unresolved, but it was strongly hinted that he genuinely cares for her. A main goal of Chrome's is to one day converse with Mukuro in Italian.

Ken Joshima & Chikusa Kakimoto[]

The Kokuyo Gang Minus Mukuro

Chrome with Mukuro's team members, Ken & Chikusa

She first met Ken and Chikusa at Kokuyo Land when Mukuro promised her that they would meet them. Like Ken and Chikusa, she shares that they are loyal and devoted to Mukuro as their leader. At first, Chrome thought of them as important to her because they are important to Mukuro. However, after spending more time with them, Chrome started to care for them deeply from her heart, not only because of their connection with Mukuro. She came to regard them as her first comrades that she trusts.

Her demeanour has some people, namely Ken and Chikusa, responding by not being honest with her. Should Chrome be thought of as pitiful, she receives concern from them every now and then. Chrome doesn't like it when Ken particularly is being mean to her, but she still cherishes him and takes his insults patiently. Ken and Chikusa initially thought of her merely as Mukuro's container, but they eventually grow to care for her, though they refuse to show it, especially Ken. Where Chrome has a monthly allowance of 500 yen, for bathing, Ken pays for her.

Should Chrome appear sad, they would worry which usually prompts Ken to buy her favorite sweets in hope of cheering her up. Ken shows a fondness of her by buying her treats and blushing when Chrome is mentioned in certain situations if she's not around. Chikusa usually restrains Ken if he thinks Ken goes too far with his attempts in trying to hide his concern for her.

After Chrome started to live in Namimori, Chrome distances herself from Ken and Chikusa, in favor of spending time with Kyoko and Haru. Though in the Rebo to Dlive artbook, Chrome is seen helping Ken, along with Chikusa, and Fran carry multiple bags and boxes. This implies that despite not living together anymore, they still like to hang out together.

Tsunayoshi Sawada[]

For whatever Chrome knew about the next Vongola boss in training, Chrome would turn up for a stranger to fight for him. Showing up to battle for the Mist Ring, she would prevail and help secure one in the competition. Chrome regards Tsuna as her boss and took an immediate liking to him for being the second person to accept her after Mukuro. She went as far to grant him a kiss as a greeting. Where Chrome became the Mist Guardian for the team, like most of the Guardians, she is loyal to Tsuna and willing to follow him even in the face of danger.

While at ease and in support of Tsuna, it is not to the point of blind devotion where Chrome can remain sensible in making decisions for what is best overall. In the future when Kyoko and Haru were on a strike against Tsuna and the others on the lack of involvement, Chrome sided with Kyoko and Haru. A matter of having them updated on the situation that concerned them, Chrome had a healthy relationship with Tsuna where she voiced her opinion and was prepared to stand against him for the right reasons.

Although bearing her own hardships, Chrome was not indifferent to those others were experiencing. Able to recognize them, Chrome saw that the struggles Tsuna went through along with the others were great. Where they concerned her, being hurt from training did not bother Chrome, which shows how much she struggled to do her best as a Guardian for Tsuna.

Regardless of her connection with Mukuro, Tsuna sees Chrome as an important friend and always treats her nicely. He occasionally shows concern for her well-being when she is in danger or sad such as when she was kidnapped by Demon and when she was kicked out from Kokuyo by Mukuro. He displayed anger towards Mukuro when he believed that Mukuro abandoned Chrome.

I-Pin, Kyoko, & Haru[]

The Girls ED Canvas

Chrome with Kyoko, Haru, and I-Pin.

In the beginning, Chrome found I-Pin, Kyoko, and Haru's acts of kindness whenever she was with them to be extremely confusing. Unsure what to make of them, Chrome responded by running away to her room to avoid them. However, after I-Pin went to her room and offered a bun to eat, Chrome ate together with her. From this, Chrome began to slowly warm up to I-Pin and the others.

Coming to join them to help with kitchen duties, Chrome was unable to hide her embarrassment when noticed by Haru and Kyoko. She then begins to help Kyoko and Haru prepare dishes for those who were training. Where before Chrome ate alone, she would join the wider group in eating dinner with them regularly. This appeared more helpful for Chrome as before when she was by herself it seemed she did not eat often.

While regarding Tsuna as boss, and liking him, then being one of his guardians, Chrome joins Kyoko and Haru's boycott against Tsuna and the others for keeping secrets from them. Despite the respect she has for Tsuna, and understanding the dangers given that she was also involved in them, Chrome believed that they should not keep secrets from Kyoko and Haru. Where they were unsettled at what was happening without their knowledge, Chrome may have supported them as her friends and to provide them peace of mind. At the same time, Chrome was a good mediator where she could support what Kyoko and Haru wanted to achieve, yet also help with them understanding Tsuna's struggles.

From I-Pin, Kyoko, and Haru's gentle encouragement for her to be more sociable, Chrome is also guided to accept other people's kindness. Since then, Chrome became much closer to these three. Notably after she left Kokuyo, she sought them for comfort after being kicked out, where Chrome was able to feel better from their help. Far from desiring to return to the bad place she was even though that was a habit for her, Chrome then began to regularly spend more time with them. Her bond with them continued to blossom as she even stayed with them rather than return to Mukuro even after she attained her independence as a warrior that Mukuro acknowledged.

Bianchi[]

Although Chrome would have few scenarios with this assassin, and the older sister of Gokudera, the perception of her by others would be influenced by Bianchi. Upon Chrome reacting by avoiding others who were being nice, her actions were explained by Bianchi to Kyoko and Haru. Perhaps not registering what the matter was herself, that Chrome was experiencing something similar to a culture shock in response to niceness was understood by Bianchi. From this, Chrome could be supported more by her newfound friends given Bianchi's comprehension of the situation.

M.M[]

M.M. is seen to have a huge dislike towards Chrome and this could be because of her possible feelings towards Mukuro and is irritated by how Chrome always has such "pitiful" expression on her face. She has been slapping her and insulting her on some occasions for this. When Chrome was kicked out from Kokuyo, she seems more than happy to give her to Tsuna and his friends. But after the final battle with Byakuran, M.M told Chrome to stay away from Mukuro since he was a fearsome person, and she was concerned about it. She also shows concern when Chrome came to help Mukuro fight Vindice because of the state her body was in. This may mean she has some level of concern for Chrome. Chrome, on her part, doesn't have any anger nor hatred towards her, but instead views her as one of people whom she held dear.

Vongola Guardians[]

A specialized series of connections could be made by those outside what Chrome is familiar with, as well as the girls she is happy around. By being one of Tsuna's guardians and the only female member, Chrome has a distinct bond with the other five members who also use Vongola Rings. While Chrome is not really talkative with any due to her reserved nature, she is more ready than most to fight for the team as most of them are. For Hayato Gokudera and Takeshi Yamamoto it may be that with Tsuna they were a group and so too many people for Chrome to speak with when the focus was on her. When listening to what Tsuna had to say, after Gokudera and Yamamoto joined him, Chrome promptly closed the door to her room with the scene perhaps becoming too boisterous for her.

Lambo[]

While Lambo seems aggravating to some, Chrome does not regard him as such and in turn has so issue with handling someone generally unmanageable. Where she is shy, Chrome progressively began opening up to I-Pin among the other girls, in which Lambo often was around them too. Referring to the onesie Lambo wears, Chrome addresses him as Cow child. Although Lambo is a guardian too of the Lightning Ring, their connection is not along battle lines but general closeness. On occasion Chrome would be carrying Lambo in a rare case of her being physically there for someone.

Takeshi Yamamoto[]

When Chrome was experiencing the effects of poison in the second fight for the Vongola rings, her safety was in mind by Yamamoto. Having been taken hostage, Chrome found Yamamoto was prepared to surrender two rings to Belphegor and Mammon to secure the antidote for her. After their victory, Chrome was supported by Yamamoto.

Hayato Gokudera[]

Another one of Tsuna's close friends, Chrome would experience a rescue attempt from Gokudera who arrived with Yamamoto to assist her. Chrome's potential freedom rested with someone who did not trust their enemies to return her should they hand over the rings.

Ryohei Sasagawa[]

Her link with the Sun Guardian is that they were both entrusted with rings. Her rescue during the goal of acquiring the Vongola Rings was helped when Ryohei broke into the gym using his Maximum Cannon to disrupt the battle in their favor.

Kyoya Hibari[]

Sharing a trait with Kyoya Hibari that they are quiet, Chrome is not as antisocial as him though where her distantness stems from her being shy. Regarding him in relation to his ring, Chrome refers to him as Cloud man. With her body being able to be used as a vessel for Mukuro, while he was able to soundly defeat Hibari, the grudge Hibari may have is not directed at her. Similarly, though Chrome named her owl Mukuro, unaware of the ramifications such a name may have on Hibari, she remains unfamiliar with Mukuro's antagonistic relation with him. That Chrome would name her owl as such is neither regarded as a provocation from someone who is violent even without any cause.

Chrome's dispensation from someone's ire who is prone to administering physical violence is all the more remarkable given that she is an illusionist, something that Hibari resents due to his past with Mukuro. Just as notable is that Chrome is an infirm, and weak appearing individual, who is exempt from Hibari's notable habit of attacking who he regards as weak herbivores. On paper, Chrome is everything Hibari loathes, compounded by her direct relationship with his nemesis Mukuro who can enter her body, and yet Chrome is not troubled by Hibari at all.

Varia[]

Coming into contact with this elite assassin group in the titular Varia Arc, she would find herself pitted against members as they fought in competitions for the Vongola Rings, and again in more chaos based circumstances as the Varia attempted to seize all the rings. For all their initial hostilities, the Varia are a part of the Vongola and so Chrome would find she would be allies with them on other battlefields.

Mammon[]

Chrome has a notable connection with one member of the Varia, like herself, Mammon is part of a small group who uses illusion based powers. Upon Chrome's reveal at the one-on-one competition to decide who would gain the Mist Ring, she found one of the seven Arcobaleno was her opponent. Remaining focused, Chrome tries her best against a foe whose illusions can cause him to split into multiple copies. Although eventually overcome in battle, Chrome would benefit from Mukuro's assistance in vanquishing this foe.

Regarding her powers, Chrome would have them acknowledged by Mammon when he commented that he would have been done for should he have believed in her illusions for a second. At a later point, Chrome would be downcast that her illusion had been seen through, only to be assured of its overall strength by Mammon.

Belphegor[]

After Mammon had been cursed of his poison, Chrome would be taken hostage by him and Belphegor, a sadistic prince who uses throwing knifes. True to that, Chrome was left under the effects of poison and used as a hostage by Belphegor in an attempt to gain two of the Vongola Rings.

Superbia Squalo[]

Unlike others, Chrome's first impression of the Varia would not come from Squalo who had attacked the group in order to gain the rings when they first came to Japan. Had Squalo succeeded in gaining the real Vongola Rings it may have altered Chrome's trajectory into being brought to the competition to gain one and meet who would become her friends.

Lussuria[]

A member of the Varia who Chrome would be against in their widened battle for the rings.

Levi A Than[]

Having his Lightning Strike Squad in tow, it is not known if Chrome knew he had first targeted I-Pin and Lambo who would later become her friends.

Xanxus[]

The leader of the Varia, that Chrome would be involved with a contest for the rings would be brought about by Xanxus who desired them for their power, and to succeed the ninth as the next head of the Vongola.

Fran[]

In the same vicinity in the future, despite being Mukuro's illusion student, Chrome and Fran hardly have any interaction. However, Chrome has shown to be one of the few people that could actually control Fran, being able to make him use Verde's device to help Gokudera and Yamamoto from getting killed by the Vindice despite the boy not having any motivation. Fran seems to not treat her as he does to other people, not insulting her, even though Chrome has the same hairstyle as Mukuro. He even found her scary when she scolded him. He also seems to display a small crush on her, muttering about wanting a kiss form her if he were to help her with Verde's device.

Iemitsu Sawada[]

Likely not even knowing him, Chrome's fate would be affected by Tsuna's dad. If he had guidance from Timoteo, or Reborn or anyone, Chrome was not only known to him but selected by Iemitsu to be one of the guardians for his son. From this, Chrome had the chance to develop friendships with others who were kinder to her, and then have the means to reach the point that she could form her own organs to grant her an entirely new lease on life.

Uni[]

Chrome refers to the possessor of the Sky pacifier as Sky child.

Parents[]

A flashback even reveals details on Chrome's parents where they were rarely at home to the point that Chrome had to learn to cook for herself. When they were together, it can be assumed that Chrome was not in a good relationship with both her mother and her step-father. From what her mother said, Chrome and her mother were never close with each other. Unable to be understood by her mother, Chrome was willingly left by her to die.

Her step-father also cares for his work more than his step-daughter since he was annoyed when her accident forced him to leave an important meeting. Chrome was affected by her step-father's view to seemingly not consider her as such since they are not related by blood. It hass never been shown how Chrome feels for them, but is clearly upset by their treatment.
