Character Outline

Belphegor (Bel) is an assassin working for the Vongola's independent assassination squad, the Varia. He is known as 'Prince the Ripper' (Purinzu za Rippa). At age 8, he stabbed his elder identical twin brother, Rasiel, presumably to death. He was the storm half-ring bearer of the Varia during the Vongola Ring conflict. He represents the sin of sloth and is prince of an unknown country. He is known as a battle genius, but his abilities only truly present themselves when he sees his own "royal" blood, which reminds him of the time he stabbed his brother. His eyes are never shown in the manga, But at reborn volume 24, Lussuria says that his eyes are both cool and loyal. "Ushishishi.." is his signature laugh

Plot Outline

Varia Arc

During the Varia arc, he fights Hayato Gokudera for the possession of the Storm Ring. The fight takes place on the of the third floor of Namimori Middle School, which has been rigged with giant wind turbines and explosives set on a timer especially for the Storm Ring Battle. Bel uses throwing knives and wires to confuse Gokudera during the battle, eventually trapping him in the library. Gokudera then uses Bel's wires against him by sending his rocket dynamite along the wires directly to Bel, knocking him out. However, Gokudera is unable to claim victory since Bel's princely instinct keeps Bel from relinquishing the Half Storm Ring to Gokudera long enough for the timed explosives to force Gokudera to forfeit.

During the Sky Ring Battle Bel, like all of the guardians, is incapacitated with a poison until the Storm Ring could be inserted into the watch which contains the antidote. Xanxus was eventually to get the Storm Ring to Bel, but Bel is quickly confronted by Hibari. Bel is able to injure Hibari long enough for him to escape in order for him to help the rest of the Varia. Bel cures Mammon by using the Mist Ring, then proceeds to hold Chrome hostage in order to get the rest of the rings from Gokudera and Yamamoto. Mammon and Bel are successful and proceed to free Xanxus from the ice created when Tsuna used Zero Point Breakthrough First Edition. When it is found out that the Varia cheated by having their troops enter the battlefield, they are disqualified from the competition and go back to Italy.

Future Arc

Bel, as he appears in the future

10 years into the future, just after the Varia have raided a Millefiore base, Squalo orders Bel to be paired up with Fran and orders them to explore the surrounding area to the base and fight any Millefiore soldiers they find. After Belphegor dispatches a number of Millefiore soldiers (and a large section of forest) using his box weapon Visone Tempesta (Storm Mink), they came across Olgert and, very much to their surprise, Bel's supposedly dead twin brother - Rasiel. Bel starts to fight, but Fran fails to open his box weapon. Rasiel uses this distraction to attack, incapacitating Bel and Fran. Fran is able to create an illusion of the both of them dying and the two escape, in order to save their own lives and partially to witness Xanxus fighting with Rasiel. Unfortunately, Xanxus's battle with Rasiel is over before they can find them.

Bel and Mammon as Himeko and Monta Hariyama

Bel, accompanying Mammon (Viper of the Arcobaleno), enrolls in Tsuna's school as Himeko Hariyama and Monta Hariyama while planning for Viper's part of the trial. Bel as Himeko plays a part in Kyoko's 'kidnapping' by taking her shopping while Tsuna clears Viper's trial of adaptability.

Win-Loss Battle Record

Weapons

  • Knives and Wires - Belphegor uses throwing knives and nearly invisible wires to confuse and cut his enemies. While his enemies usually concentrate on the knives, they are either being cut or trapped by the wires.
  • Visone Tempesta ~ Storm Mink-

    Bel with his Box weapon

Belphegor's box weapon, a small mink, with hair covering its eyes like Bel, with fur which generates storm flames which degenerates anything that touches it. It moves at blinding speeds, making it highly impossible to avoid its deadly attack. It can also produce a flame shield by rapidly rotating its tail.

Trivia

  • He ate at Yamamoto's family's sushi bar when he accompanied Marmon to Japan for the Arcobaleno Trials.
